A new 420 place primary school serving the Trent Waterside area has been given the green light by the government.
Set to open in September 2021, the Waterside Primary Academy will also have a 60 place nursery alongside it.
Greenwood Academies Trust was successful in its application to set up the free school, which will provide Pelham Waterside residents with a facility run by a Trust with a proven track record. All of their 24 existing primary academies are rated “good” or “outstanding” by Ofsted.
Mike Hamlin, Chair of Greenwood Academies Trust said: “Waterside Primary Academy will play an essential part in building and sustaining an exciting new community within Nottingham.”
Nottingham City Council Leader David Mellen added: “Proposals for a new school in Nottingham’s newest neighbourhood are very welcome. We have long wanted to develop the Waterside area into a new sustainable community. We included a school in our planning blueprint, along with transport links and high quality homes.”
In May, work officially began on the Pelham Waterside development, which will include 73 contemporary properties in a range of sizes and designs.
